INTL-FAC-Forum Listserv

The purpose of the INTL-FAC-FORUM Listserv is to disseminate pertinent information to K-State professors regarding faculty-led group study abroad programs and to provide a venue for faculty to collaborate on group study abroad programs. The listserv is moderated by Rebecca Murrow, Coordinator of Faculty Services in the Study Abroad Program.

International Faculty Development Seminars

These seminars are intensive educational experiences designed to explore fascinations, challenge preconceptions, and open eyes to global issues shaping the world today. Each program features lectures, site visits, and discussions with overseas academics and colleagues. Participants return to campus poised to incorporate an international dimension into administration, course design, research, and teaching.

Professional Organizations

Association of Third World Studies, Inc.

The Association of Third World Studies (ATWS), the largest professional organization of its kind in the world, publishes the Journal of Third World Studies, which expresses diverse viewpoints concerning Third World problems and issues . The main purpose of this organization is to provide an international structure for the humane and scientific study of Third World peoples, problems, and issues, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life.

IDP Database of Research on International Education

Contains details of thousands of books, articles, conference papers and reports on various aspects of international education. There is no charge to search the database and access is open to all.

Funding Sources

Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation

Research and educational grants exclusively for university professors (all levels), scholars holding Ph.D. degrees, artists and translators of Greek literature, school teachers of Greek as a foreign language, postgraduate students, and Ph.D. candidates.

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation funds cooperative research between German, U.S. and/or Canadian scholars. The funds are supplied by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

American Council of Learned Societies Fellowships

ACLS supports funding in the humanities and humanities-related social sciences, which also include ACLS/SSRC/NEH International and Area Studies Fellowships up to $50,000.

DAAD Scholarship Programs for Study and Research in Germany

DAAD offers a wide range of highly selective scholarships, grants, and fellowships for Germany to US and Canadian citizens from undergraduate students to post-doctoral scholars.

European Consortium for Political Research

The ECPR makes various funds available to help people who wish to participate in conferences or summer schools supported by the ECPR. In addition, standing (research) groups may apply for grants to assist them in their activities.

Fulbright Program

Awards for study and/or research abroad are available to faculty and staff in most countries of the world and in most disciplines. Award periods vary from 1 month to a full academic year. Remember these programs are for both faculty and staff, so see if there’s something that fits you.

The Institute of Turkish Studies

The Institute of Turkish Studies (ITS) is the only non-profit, private educational foundation in the United States that sports the development of Turkish Studies in American higher education.

IREX Short-Term Travel Grants

The Short-Term Travel Grants provide support to US scholars for visits of up to two months to conduct postdoctoral research, present papers at conferences, or consult with colleagues in countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Iran and Turkey.

The Kosciuszko Foundation

The Graduate/Postgraduate Studies & Research in Poland Program allows American graduate students and university faculty members to conduct research at universities in Poland with financial support from the Polish Ministry of National Education and the Kosciuszko Foundation.

NAFSA Cooperative Grants Program

The Cooperative Grants Program (COOP) provides funds of up to $10,000, as well as programming and grant writing resources, for projects that creatively involve post-secondary international and U.S. study abroad students in U.S. campuses and communities.

Office of Citizen Exchanges

The Office of Citizen Exchanges manages professional, youth, and cultural programs through grants with non-profit American institutions, including community organizations, professional associations, and universities.

Rotary Grants for University Teachers

Rotary provide funds to higher education faculty to travel abroad to teach at colleges and universities in developing countries. The program is intended to build international understanding and foster development/strengthening higher education in low-income areas of the world.

Social Science Research Council: SSRC Fellowships

The SSRC sponsors fellowship and grant programs on a wide range of topics, and across many different career stages. SSRC offers an array of fellowships.

Millersville University Online Resources

Millersville provides faculty and staff with two online databases which provide information from both federal grants and private foundations.
