Our Previous
Chaplain: The Reverend Cathy Chittenden-Bascom
- Cathy Chittenden-Bascom had been the priest at St.
Francis Canterbury since 1993. Before that she was
a priest in Chicago for 3 years.
- She is married to Tim Bascom, a writer and English
instructor at K-State. They have 2 sons:
Connor age 7 and Luke age 4.
- Besides her church qualifications, Cathy has two degrees
in English Literature: her B.A. from the University
of Kansas and her M.A. from Exeter University in England.
- She was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and had a
conversion experience while on a ski trip near Aspen.
Campus ministry was very important in her own development
as a Christian.
- Cathy loves to garden and loves Bob Dylan and The Beatles.
- Cathy finds ministry at St. Francis and K-State very
fulfilling.
Cathy thinks,
"To work with people who are authentically seeking
spiritually is a great gift. And the energy of students is
contagious. St. Francis is a diverse community - but one
where Jesus' love is evident in the lives gathered."
Cathy can now be
reached at her new Church (St. Stephan's Episcopal Church,
Newton, Iowa). Here is her new email address: ststephn@pcpartner.net
We are currently seeking to fill the Chaplain position at St.
Francis. Please pray for us.
