Changing Academic Plans Within the Same Program

 

Purpose

Use this procedure to change a student's Academic Plan when the initial Plan is in the same Program as the final Plan.

Trigger

Perform this procedure when a student is transferring their major within the same Academic Program.

Prerequisitess

·         Student must have competed the necessary paperwork and secured the necessary approvals for the Plan change.

1.       Records and Enrollment  Career and Program Information  Student Program/Plan

2.       At a minimum, complete the following required fields to find the appropriate record:

iSIS unique system identifier.

Example:         0000075444

Academic Career

O

A Grouping of all academic work undertaken by a student grouped into a single statistical record.  KSU will use Undergraduate, Graduate, and Veterinary Medicine careers to designate their students.

Campus ID

O

K-State issued student identifier.  Also called, the Wildcat ID (WID).

Example:         (left blank)

National ID

O

National identification number issued by the government.  Social Security Number (SSN).

Example:         (left blank)

Last Name

O

Person's last name.

Example:         (left blank)

First Name

O

Person's first name.

Example:         (left blank)

 

    Refer to Searching for Records in iSIS for help on using the Search Pages.

4.       If necessary, select the appropriate Academic Program that includes the existing Academic Plan.

6.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

The date on which the settings become effective.

     Effective Date should be on or before the first day of the term in which student will first enroll in selected program

·         If effective for Spring, then enter 1/1/YYYY

·         If effective for Summer, then enter 6/1/YYYY

·         If effective for Fall, then enter 8/1/YYYY

Example:         01/01/2008

Effective Sequence

R

Order in which conditions are to be assessed.

    The higher Sequence Number takes precedence over lower Sequence Numbers.

    This will be set by the system unless the same record is adjusted twice in the same day. Then the higher number will indicate the most recent change to the record.

Program Action

R

Change to be performed to a student's Program.

    For changing a Plan in the same Program, use PLNC (Plan Change).

Action Reason

O

Reason code that describes why the action was taken.

Example:         (left blank)

Admit Term

O

Term in which the student was admitted to the Academic Program

    This is not the term the student is admitted to K-State.

Example:         2082

Requirement Term

O

Indicates the term in which the academic degree progress requirements apply to the student for this Academic Program.

    This value defaults to the Admit Term.

Example:         2082

A course of study leading to a formal award given by an institution, such as a degree, diploma or certificate.  For example, Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics.

Plan Sequence

Sequence in which Academic Plans are to be processed.

    Primary Academic Plans are to be assigned a Plan Sequence of 10.  All other Plans should be assigned values of 20, 30, 40, etc.
