Adda New Academic Plan or Academic Sub-Plan

 

Purpose

Use this procedure to add a new Academic Plan or Academic Sub-Plan to a student's Program/Plan Stack.

Trigger

Perform this procedure when a student has indicated an intent to pursue an additional field of study at K-State.

Prerequisites

·         Academic Program in which the Academic Plan exists must be added to the student's Program/Plan stack.

    Refer to Adding a New Academic Program for details on creating a new Program, if necessary.

·         Student must have been granted admission to the Academic Plan through the College that monitors that Plan.

Use the following menu path(s) to begin this task:

·         Select Records and Enrollment  Career and Program Information   Student Program/Plan.

1.       Records and Enrollment  Career and Program Information   Student Program/Plan.

2.       At a minimum, complete the following required fields to find the appropriate record:

iSIS unique system identifier.

Example:         0000075444

Academic Career

O

A Grouping of all academic work undertaken by a student grouped into a single statistical record.  KSU will use Undergraduate, Graduate, and Veterinary Medicine careers to designate their students.

National ID

O

National identification number issued by the government.  Social Security Number (SSN).

Example:         (left blank)

Campus ID

O

K-State issued student identifier.  Also called, the Wildcat ID (WID).

Example:         (left blank)

Last Name

O

Person's last name.

Example:         (left blank)

First Name

O

Person's first name.

Example:         (left blank)

 

    Refer to Searching for Records in iSIS for help on using the Search Pages.

3.       Select the appropriate Academic Program in which to insert the new Academic Plan.

    If the Academic Program does not exist in the student's Program/Plan stack (it is not listed in the search results), follow the instructions for Adding a New Academic Program for this student.

4.       Click  .

6.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Effective Date

The date on which the settings become effective.

     Effective Date should be on or before the first day of the term in which student will first enroll in selected program

·         If effective for Spring, then enter 1/1/YYYY

·         If effective for Summer, then enter 6/1/YYYY

·         If effective for Fall, then enter 8/1/YYYY

Effective Sequence

R

Order in which conditions are to be assessed.

    The higher Sequence Number takes precedence over lower Sequence Numbers.

    This will be set by the system unless the same record is adjusted twice in the same day. Then the higher number will indicate the most recent change to the record.

Program Action

Program-related action to be taken.

    When adding a new Academic Plan, this value must be set to ACTV (Activate)

Admit Term

R

Term in which the student was admitted to the Academic Program.

    This is not the term the student is admitted to K-State.

Example:         2072

Requirement Term

R

Indicates the term in which academic degree progress requirements apply to the student for this Academic Program.

    This value defaults to the Admit Term.

Example:         2072

Academic Plan

R

A course of study leading to a formal award given by an institution, such as a degree, diploma or certificate.  For example, Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics.

Example:         BBIOCH-BA (Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry)

Plan Sequence

R

Sequence in which Academic Plans are to be processed.

    Primary Academic Plans are to be assigned a Plan Sequence of 10.  All other Plans should be assigned values of 20, 30, 40, etc.

Example:         10

Declare Date

R

Date in which the intent to pursue the Academic Plan was made known.

    This value defaults to the current date.

Example:         01/01/2007

Requirement Term

R

Indicates the term in which academic degree progress requirements apply to the student for this Academic Plan.

    This value defaults to the Requirement Term from the Program.

Example:         2065

Advisement Status

R

For use in Academic Advising.  K-State is not using this field.

    This field is required by iSIS to be completed.  K-State recommends keeping the default Include value.
