Add a New Career

 

Purpose

Use this procedure to add a new Academic Career to a student's Program/Plan stack.

Trigger

Perform this procedure when a student needs to take classes offered under a career other than their admitted careers.  For example, a new career would be needed to allow an undergraduate student to take graduate classes for credit.

Prerequisites

None

Menu Path

Use the following menu path(s) to begin this task:

·         Records and Enrollment  Career and Program Information  Student Program/Plan

Helpful Hints

·         In order to save the newly created Academic Career, it must also have an Academic Program and Academic Plan associated with that career.

3.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Academic Career

R

A Grouping of all academic work undertaken by a student grouped into a single statistical record.  KSU will use Undergraduate, Graduate, and Veterinary Medicine careers to designate their students.

Example:         Undergraduate

Student Career Nbr

R

Order in which Academic Programs are processed within a given Academic Career.

    For the first Academic Program added to an Academic Career, set this value to 0 to designate it as the Primary Program for the selected Career.

5.       Follow instructions for Adding a New Program , beginning with Step 8, and Adding a New Plan to continue completing the student's Program/Plan stack entry.

6.       You have completed this task.

Result

You have added a new Academic Career to a student's Program/Plan Stack.

    In order to save the newly created Academic Career, it must also have an Academic Program and Academic Plan associated with that career.
