Mapping the Samba Drive

Purpose

Use this procedure to connect to the LASER drive space on the SAMBA web server.

Trigger

Perform this procedure when you need to access files stored in the LASER drive space on the SAMBA web server with Read/Write access.

Prerequisites

· User must have been granted access to the laserteam folder on the SAMBA web server.

Menu Path

Use the following menu path(s) to begin this task:

Helpful Hints

· To view the files in Read Only mode, go to laser.ksu.edu and click the Project Team Site link.

Screen Flow

Procedure

1. Desktop

2.       Right-Click .

3.       Click .

Map Network Drive

4.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Field Name	R/O/C	Description
Drive	R	Drive letter to be assigned to the "Samba" drive.     The letter chosen is insignificant, unless the drive letter is already assigned to another folder. Example:         S:
Folder	R	Path to the folder to be mapped.     The text below must be entered EXACTLY for the proper drive mapping to take place. Example:       \\samba.ksu.edu\www\infotech\projects\laserteam\studentfunctional\registration\colleges
Reconnect at Logon	O	Click this checkbox to have this connection recur at every logon.      Checking this box is HIGHLY recommended by the LASER team. Example: ü

5.       Click  .

Connect As...

6.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Field Name	R/O/C	Description
User name	R	Your K-State eID. Example:         bcad
Password	R	Your K-State eID password. Example:         *****

7.       Click  .

8.       Click  .

9.       Click  .

10.     You have completed this task.

Result

You have successfully mapped the LASER "Samba" drive on your computer.
