Smurthwaite House Minutes – 2/24/08
- Director Notes
- Zoe: Cooking tips – don’t forget to initial memo. Initial all duties and pay attention. Look for memos. Cooling food has to be in pans, not in cottage cheese containers. No pots and pans cleaners on weekends!! Clean your own pots and pans!! Pizza sauce in upstairs freezer. Make sure to sweep off dust pan so it’s clean for the next person.
- Karen: Make sure the back door is locked!!
- Officer Reports
- Meredith – Scholarship chair: Class schedule list is compiled and can be found in back of Blue notebook. Also planning Scholarship banquet (April 12; needs current home address to send invitations.
- Kayla – Historian: Send Kayla your pictures for the scrapbook
- Victoria – Administrative Recruitment: Shadow weekend next weekend; if you signed up to have a shadow, stay after meeting. We might need more people to have shadows. On Saturday it would be good to be around house even if you don’t have a shadow. 4:00-5:30 be here in Smurth for icebreakers and q&a for majors for the girls. If you want to participate in skits, talk to Vic. 5:00 tip off for bball game; Watch party with Smith and the girls. If you can’t be here this weekend, please help Vic this week. If you haven’t filled out shadow form or info sheet, do so. If you are representing Smurthwaite, please don’t act inappropriately.

- Amanda – Community Service: Last week of love month! It’s clothing drive time! Collect your clothes and put them in the corner of the dining room. They will be gone by Friday at noon. A donation = 1 hour of service. Instead of pancake feed, we are going to serve breakfast at Episcapal church. 6:30am-9:30am on Tuesday and Friday (Feb. 26 & Feb. 29) Smurthwaite is on the board at Douglass Tutoring. You should help! Thanks to Meredith for helping with Environ; thanks to Caitlin and Megan C. for shopping. Blood drive this week! Donating = 1 hour. Good job for lots of hours!
- Meryl – Cultural Chairwoman Al: Monday 25th – Speaker in Forum Hall about Learning to love food again 6:00, Dobranski in All Faiths Chapel 7:00 Tuesday, Wednesday Jazz Band in Forum Hall at 7:00, Too Many Sopranos – tickets: $10, Grocery Bingo in the Union from 7:00-11 on Friday!
- Andrea – Fundraising Chair: More Bramlage Clean-up Wednesday and Saturday. Only Thursday March 6 will clean (not Friday) Initial board.
- Amanda K. – Publicity Chairwoman: Pay Amanda or she won’t pick up order!
- Heather – Informal Social: WOW is Brandy Tyler from Smith House in charge of T-Shirt, will be $8-10 and sign up will be soon.
- Sarah C – Homecoming Chair B: HOTY bid coming up soon. Needs people to volunteer for skit team/writing. Also written bid that is 10 pages. More info? See Sarah.
- Caitlin – Vice President:Cars in the lot without a permit = bad. Caitlin knows your car. Park around the block. Will print off phone duty record. Check off name before next house meeting.
- Allison – Intramural Chair: Sign up sheets for intramurals. Doubles coming up! Teams of softball, dodge ball. Individual: Around the World.
- Erin – ARH Representative: ARH meeting on March 5. Come! It’s a HOTY goal. If you want to run for an exec board position, go find Erin for a form. Primary elections for campus exec board are this week. Thanks for coming to meeting this last week!
- Monica – Alumnae Chair: Alumnae event = afternoon on April 5 Needs ideas for mixers and such.
- New Business
- Move to allow guests to sleep in Study room and use common areas on Friday, Feb. 29, approved.
- Announcements
- Vic – Don’t leave the scoops in bins in kitchen. DON’T LEAVE DOOR PROPPED!!!
- Caitlin – Not allowed to prop door at all this week! It is very dangerous to leave the door propped unwatched. Up ‘til Dawn counts for community service! Yay! Any questions? Talk to Caitlin.
- Stacy – Self-Defense meeting at Front Desk after meeting. Program at Thursday at 8:00.
- Kayla – Sunday : Dinner with a Purpose; $5.00 for dinner on Sunday night. Also Casino night with prizes! Also come to ARH meeting! It’s part of our HOTY goals and we want to win HOTY. Help with skit and writing the bid. Questions? See Kayla

- Laura – Remember that you are representing Smurthwaite; act appropriately. People are watching our actions. Don’t leave food in inappropriate places in fridge. Good job on Formal. Next week after House meeting carry books out of Karen’s office to Study Room. Speaker on Monday night… you should go! Belly dancing at Rec on Thursday at 7:00. Friday Hot Chocolate at Union.
