The Smurthwaite Leadership/Scholarship House is an exciting living option where you can build leadership skills and enhance your personal development. With 46 women and an assistant residence life coordinator, Smurthwaite is a close-knit community that provides the following opportunities for the kind of academic and interpersonal development that can help you succeed at K-State and beyond. At Smurthwaite you will learn skills that will help you with your personal, professional, and career goals. Community development is emphasized through group activities and participation in the Women's Leadership Program

What is Smurthwaite?
How much does it cost?
Smurthwaite costs approximately $500 less per semester than the residence halls. In exchange for the reduced room and board costs, you will help with the day-to-day operations of the house, normally putting in three hours of kitchen/house-related work and one hour of phone duty each week. In addition, weekend responsibilities include 10 hours of phone duty and six hours of kitchen or house-related duties per semester. Duty schedules will be arranged with your class schedule and outside commitments in mind.
What are the living arrangements?
*Air-conditioned three person room
*Study room equipped with computers (24 hours quiet)
*Furnishings (bed, dresser, desk, chair, and closet for each resident)
*Living room with a piano, stereo, big-screen TV, VCR, and DVD player
*New and affordable laundry facilities
*Large dining room
*Large kitchen open for personal use
*Three meals daily, Monday through Friday's lunch (kitchen remains open for weekend use)
*A smoke-free environment
