1. Launching the lesson: Copy this:
1,4,9,16,25,___,____,____,____,____
On the board and have students guess the blanks on paper.
2. Developing the lesson:
 Once everyone has a guess down, begin to read Bats on Parade.
3. Closure/Discussion/Elaboration:
 Afterwards, discuss the pattern. Make sure students know the numbers to replace the blanks. Also, students should be able to explain the pattern in words.
