william D. Ford federal Direct Loan program

The Office of Student Financial Assistance awards all eligible students a Federal Direct Loan as part of their financial assistance package. To be awarded a Federal Direct Loan, you must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet standard eligibility requirements.

In response to events within the U.S. financial markets, K-State’s Office of Student Financial Assistance began offering federally guaranteed student loans under the Federal Direct Student Loan Program in Spring 2008 to new, incoming as well as continuing students. This action was premised on our office’s overall commitment to providing a stable and reliable source of federally guaranteed student loans. Since funding for Federal Direct Student Loans is secured by the U.S. Department of Education from the U.S. Treasury, K-Staters are assured of access to federally guaranteed student loans irrespective of financial market instabilities.
