Office of Student Financial Assistance

Meet my Advisor

In order to successfully guide each student through the scholarship and financial aid process, every student at K-State is assigned a personal financial aid advisor.

Our financial aid advisors are available to offer information to students and their families, such as how to apply for K-State scholarships or how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

What is your favorite K-State memory?

My favorite K-State memory would be visiting and communicating with all of the students and families over the years I have been in the Financial Aid Office, assisting them with the Financial Aid process and to be able to answer any questions that they may have.

How long have you worked in the OSFA?

I have worked in the Financial Aid Office a little over 37 years.

Why should a prospective student choose K-State?

A prospective student should choose K-State, I believe because we are a Great School, Friendly, and we are here to Serve the Students and Families

What would be your top tip for students?

My top tip for students, would to always be aware of the Priority deadlines for Scholarships and Federal Aid and how to apply each academic year. I would always encourage students to make an appointment or contact their Financial Aid Advisor where we can always go over this with them. If there should be any extenuating circumstances from year to year, I would also want to let them know of our Professional Judgment Appeal that they may want to review.

In addition to this, I would want them to understand how loans offered work and assisting them to determine their estimated Cost of Attendance.  When looking at all the factors this will help determining how much they will need to borrow.

Why should a prospective student choose K-State?

I believe a prospective student should choose K-State because K-State becomes your home away from home. Once you step foot on campus, you understand the true meaning of why you are a member of the K-State Family.

What would be your top tip for students?

Create a schedule for your semester. Block out time for studying, classes, etc., but also plan time to do fun things with your friends. Make sure you plan time to have fun so you don't burn yourself out on all your school work. Also, it is best to get ahead on your studies because procrastination is not your friend in college.

What is your favorite K-State memory?

When things were not so electronic, more personal contact with the students and families, I think students had a better understanding of the process, put a name to the face. Because they came in vs. emails or texting questions, etc.

How long have you worked in the OSFA?

Why should a prospective student choose K-State?

Students aren't just a number, we care about our students and families and do whatever we can to help them, we go the extra mile.

What would be your top tip for students?

Ask questions, go to the source, read the information being sent to them, don't just leave it up to your parents to check on things.
