ADMISSION
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
ASSISTANTSHIPS
An application for Admission to the Graduate School can be obtained
from the Speech Communication, Theatre and Dance Department office
by writing to: Speech Communication, Theatre and Dance Department,
129 Nichols Hall, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506 (Telephone:

To be admitted as a graduate student, an applicant must have obtained
a bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university
and must have at least a 3.0 grade point average (based on a 4.0
system) for the last two years of undergraduate work. Students may
be admitted provisionally if there is uncertainty in evaluating
transcripts, as in the case of some international students, or if
there are undergraduate deficiencies which must be removed. For
those students who do not meet the grade standards above, probationary
admission may be granted, provided there is other evidence that
the applicant has the ability to do satisfactory graduate work.
Students
must have completed all requirements for their undergraduate degrees
before enrolling for coursework in the graduate program. Send the
completed application for admission, letters of recommendation,
and all official transcripts to Dr. Charles Griffin, Graduate Coordinator,
Department of Speech Communication, Theatre and Dance, 129 Nichols
Hall, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506.
INTERNATIONAL

International applicants for admission to Kansas State University
must meet the same academic standards of admission as those required
of native students. International applicants must mail to the Speech
Communication, Theatre and Dance Department their application for
admission, letters of recommendation, and official transcripts from
each college or university attended. Also, international applicants
are required to submit proof of adequate financial support. Send
all admission materials to Dr. Charles Griffin at the above address.
In
addition, the Graduate School requires each foreign applicant whose
native language is not English to demonstrate facility in the English
language by making a satisfactory score on the Test of English as
a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The TOEFL is offered several times a
year in the student's home country through the Educational Testing
Service, Princeton, New Jersey. For complete information concerning
the TOEFL examination, international applicants may want to write
to: Test of English as a Foreign Language, Box 899, Princeton, New
Jersey 08541, USA.
Furthermore,
all international students entering Graduate School will be required
to demonstrate proficiency in written and oral English at the time
of enrollment. Students who fail to meet this requirement must enroll
in and satisfactorily complete ENGL 075, SPCH 065, or both, as appropriate.
