Julie L. Pentz, Associate Professor of Dance, Director of the K-State Dance Program

Julie’s contributions of choreography and performance have traveled in the international dance community and her credits include guest appearances at to the Percussive Arts Society International Conference and the International Jazz World Congress. In the summer of 2004 Julie traveled to Rome, Italy to showcase her choreographic work at the Theatro Libero.

Julie has an M.F.A. in Theater Arts with a dance emphasis from the University of Arizona, where she was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for tap, jazz, modern, theater dance, and improvisation classes. She has performed her signature tap solo, Rhythm and Soles for the University of Arizona Dance Advisory Board, the Jazz Showcase Invitational Concert, and the In the Season faculty concert. Her choreography has been presented at The School of Music and Dance Convocation, the dance division winter and spring concerts, and the Graduate Professionals Showcase.

Originally from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Julie graduated from Shenandoah University with a B.F.A. in Dance Education. Prior to Julie’s return to graduate study she worked with master tap teachers that include Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Brenda Buffalino, Charles Goddertz, and Jennifer Lane.
