Bridges to the Future

Bridges to the Future is a grant issued through the National Institutes of Health. It is currently in its final year and will end on August 31, 2015. 103 students in STEM disciplines have attended K-State via Bridges to the Future over 11 years.

2014 Graduate Spotlight

 Jenny Barriga

Jenny Barriga (Dodge City, KS): May 2014 graduate in Chemistry, Jenny will be completing a year-long post-baccalaureate placement at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) before heading to Stanford University to begin her Ph.D in Biophysics in the fall of 2015. Jenny is a graduate of the Bridges to the Future community college transfer program also sponsored by the NIH.  Jenny was also the first Developing Scholar to receive the Barry M. Goldwater ScholarshipIts goal is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in these fields. Jenny also just received a Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship as recognition for her exemplary scholarly work.
