Achievements from the 2013-2014 School Year:
Cancer Research Awards: Jenny Barriga, Nallely Barron-Garcia, Jonathan Bernard, Thuy Cao, German Cuevas, and Jamilah Watkins won awards this year.
Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol: Scholars Jeffrey Murray, Mark Mathis, Daniel Dissmore, Emma Brace, Joshua Ames, and Hector Martinez presented their research for the Kansas Board of Regents.
K-State Research Forum: Jeffrey Murray received first place in undergraduate student oral presentation session , Obdulia Covarrubias Zambrano received second place in undergraduate student poster presentations, and Jazmin Zeledon received third place in undergraduate student poster presentations.
Yubisela Toledo received the Joey Lee Garmon Social Justice Scholarship.
Alaina Littlejohn and Izabella Carmona received early admission to the College of Veterinary Medicine as Zoetis Scholars.
Jenny Barriga was accepted to Stanford University's Biophysics Ph.D. Program. She also received a National Institute of Health Scholarship.
Nallely Barron-Garcia was accepted to the School of Medicine at the University of Kansas.
Natira Staats was accepted to the Marriage and Family Therapy Master's Program at Kansas State.
Emma Brace was accepted to Biological Engineering programs at Purdue, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, and Alabama. She chose the Ph.D. program at Purdue!
Larry Rodriguez was selected as a Scholar in the American Chemical Society's Scholars Program. He was one of approximately 120 nationally selected.
Mayra Perez Fajardo was was accepted into Phi Beta Kappa.
Mauri Zumalt received the Davis Scholarship for Developing Scholars in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics.
Cipriana Sapien was awarded a spot at the Future Diversity Leaders Conference hosted by KPMG, one of the Big 4 Accounting firms. She will have the opportunity to travel to Hollywood, California for three days this summer, all expenses paid. At the conference she will be able to network with business leaders, attend workshops, and learn from guest speakers.
