KPC Research
The KPC participates in the NSF EPSCoR program "Forecasting Ecological Change in the Central Plains" program within the Consortium for Global Research on Water-Based Economies (GRoWE). This program is collecting a wide range of datasets (climate, land use, demography, economics, social dynamics, biodiversity, hydrology) and developing cyberinfrastructure, toward the forecasting of ecological change in the Central Plains.
The program webpage is here: http://www.k-state.edu/ecoforecasting/
One particular resource of the program is the Central Plains Virtual Observatory: http://gis.ksu.edu/ogallala/viewer.htm
The main role of the Kansas Population Center is to provide population projection models, and solution for linking socioeconomic datasets to natural resource databases and observatories.
