KSSC Rules


1. SAIL ONLY BOATS YOU ARE QUALIFED/ CERTIFIED ON.

2. Every boat must have a qualified skipper at the helm, unless authorized by a senior skipper for training purposes.

3. Each member is responsible for returning his or her boat and equipment to its proper storage area and to check and report any damage to equipment.

4. Do a proper check of the boat before use for damage, as you are responsible for damage that occurs while sailing.

5. Damaged equipment will not be sailed if sailing may further the damage. Report all damage to the fleet captain.

6. Boat trailers will be stored in there normal parking position while sailing. DO NOT LEAVE THEM IN THE WAY OF OTHER YACHT CLUB MEMBERS.

7. All motor vehicles will be parked in the designated parking area.

8. Do not use boats if winds are gusting above 20 mph, or are questionably strong. A Senior Skipper should be called if any questions about this guideline arise.

9. If the water is below 65 F, sail only when there is a qualified boat manned and in the water. If water is below 60 F, do not sail without a wet suit and the permission of the board.

10. Lifejackets must be worn on all boats except the Oz Spray at all times while on the water. On the Oz Spray it is the skipper's responsibility to make sure there is one life jacket for each person on the craft.

11. Guests are welcome, but please don't abuse the privilege. After three visits they will be asked to pay dues as a member. A member is responsible for his/her guests.

12. Follow all US, Kansas, Tuttle Creek, KSSC, and BVYC rules and laws. This applies to guests as well as members. The captain of the boat is responsible for all tickets and fines received while in control of the boat.

13. Please dispose of litter properly

14. Pets are allowed but must be attended and under control at all times by their owner.

15. Do not give out the combination to any lock without the authorization of the board. Violations of the rule will result in expulsion.

16. Swimming at BVYC is allowed at your own risk, however stay clear of the moorings and all nonclub boats.

17. Senior Skippers have the right to enforce club rules, assign boats, and determine if lake conditions are appropriate for sailing.
