KSU Baja placed 54th in Baja SAE Midwest which took
place in our home state of Kansas. The four hour
drive to Pittsburg, KS where the competition held was
great for the team as well as our supporters. We were
glad to finally be able to show our car during
competition to all who showed up and supported us.
This competition started out well with passing
tech inspection the first time through. Kansas State was
one of only five teams to do this. On the third day we
made it though all the dynamic events without any
problems. The final day during the endurance race
our car was involved in a collision and experienced
major steering problems for the rest of the competition.
Due to this we lost many laps and ended up 54th overall.

KSU Baja placed 18th overall at the SAE East
competition in Birmingham, AL at the Stony Lonesome ORV
park. On Friday, the second day of the
competition, the site received five inches of rain and
tornado watches which shorted the day causing the team
to pass technical inspection the following morning.
This did not stop the team from performing well in the
next day's dynamic events. KSU greatly improved their
acceleration time compared to previous years due to the
help from their new sponsor MX2
and placed 24th with a time of 6.502 seconds.
Kansas State placed 17th in the water maneuverability
giving them a great starting position in the endurance
race on the final day of competition. Completing 10
laps in the four hour endurance race placed Kansas in
20th. The car had problems with the brake calipers
not releasing causing at times for our top speed to
decrease significantly. The team would like to
thank all of our sponsors and alumni for their support.

KSU Baja was invited to Briggs Auto Annual Jeep
Jamboree. Baja participated both days of the
event. The first day we displayed our car at the
Briggs dealership with all the other great jeeps.
We even drove our car around the parking lot. The
Manhattan country radio station
B104.7
Hot Country even got us a plug concerning our team
at the event. The second day the team drove the
car at Randolph ORV park. We went on the trails
there with all the other jeeps. Everyone on the team
had a great time. Next year we hope to be invited back.
Words from the Treasurer:
“I just want to send out a thanks to Briggs Auto for hosting the Baja team at the Jamboree. We all had a great time!”

We were glad when Assistant Dean Tom Roberts invited
our team to the 100th Anniversary
Boy Scouts of American
Celebration in Salina, Kansas. Some of our team members
were scouts so we wanted to give back to the
organization, as well as start off the year with a great
event. Once we arrived at the event we realized
they had given a rather large plot for our display. We
decided to set up a small course to drive the car on.
Everyone on the team had a chance to drive the car.
The boy scouts really enjoyed seeing the car and talking
with us, even some of the parents were surprised at what
the car could do.
