We like to go fast
But being a member of our team is about so much more than that.
Formula SAE is an academic design competition held yearly in Detroit by the Society of Automotive Engineers, or SAE. The premise of this event is to design and build a small formula car to "sell" to a fictitious company. The competition includes both static judging events and dynamic events to measure the car's performance. The dynamic events include an endurance/autocross course, a skidpad, a slalom, drag strip, and a braking test. The static events include the design presentation and judging, a sales presentation ,and a cost report and presentation.
Our goals:
- Apply lessons learned in the classroom in a real world setting
- Graduate as better engineers because of our involvement with the Formula SAE team
- Positively represent and promote the University, the College of Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, and all of our corporate and individual sponsors
- Have fun!
