GENERAL

21-1 Services Research for Autism Spectrum Disorder across the Lifespan (ServASD): Research on Early Identification and Linkage to Services for ASD (R01) (NIH)

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support research that develops and tests service system interventions that are broadly implementable and that rapidly engage young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in evidence-based treatment and services early in life. The goals of this FOA are to: 1) develop a service system intervention that coordinates ASD identification, evaluation, and linkage to treatment and services for children with ASD within the first two years of life; 2) test the feasibility and effectiveness of the intervention in engaging young children with ASD in care in multiple community settings; and 3) empirically demonstrate the intervention's implementability and generalizability to settings across the U.S. This FOA focuses on intervening to improve ASD service systems. It is not intended to support the development or adaptation of ASD screening tools, revalidation of assessment instruments for use under DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, nor the development or adaptation of interventions for children with ASD. 21-2 Expert IPM Decision Support System (USDA)

The purpose of the EIPMDSS program is to support development of expert systems that help guide, demonstrate and multiply impacts of USDA supported IPM programs. The goals of these IPM programs are: 1) Improve cost benefit analyses when adopting IPM practices, 2) Reduce potential human health risks from pests and related management strategies, and 3) Minimize adverse environmental effects from pests and related management strategies. Both the efficiency and effectiveness of these individual programs have historically been increased by the expert systems made available to the participants. The EIPMDSS created and maintained by the successful applicant will help these programs maintain and communicate IPM research, education, and extension priorities; allow a diverse group of stakeholders to obtain access to selected program outputs; compile LOGIC model based program reports; and synthesize program impacts. 21-3 National Integrated Water Quality Program (USDA)

The goal of the National Integrated Water Quality Program (NIWQP) is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of surface water and groundwater resources through research, education, and extension activities. Projects funded through this program will work to solve water resource problems by advancing and disseminating the knowledge base available to agricultural, rural, and urbanizing communities. Funded projects should lead to science-based decision making and management practices that improve the quality of the Nations surface water and groundwater resources in agricultural, rural, and urbanizing watersheds. 21-4 Digital Humanities Start-up Grants (NEH)

The Digital Humanities Start-Up Grants program awards relatively small grants to support the planning stages of innovative projects that promise to benefit the humanities. Digital Humanities Start-Up Grants may involve · research that brings new approaches or documents best practices in the study of the digital humanities; · planning and developing prototypes of new digital tools for preserving, analyzing, and making accessible digital resources, including libraries' and museums' digital assets; · scholarship that focuses on the history, criticism, and philosophy of digital culture and its impact on society; · scholarship or studies that examine the philosophical or practical implications and impact of the use of emerging technologies in specific fields or disciplines of the humanities, or in interdisciplinary collaborations involving several fields or disciplines; · innovative uses of technology for public programming and education utilizing both traditional and new media; and · new digital modes of publication that facilitate the dissemination of humanities scholarship in advanced academic as well as informal or formal educational settings at all academic levels. 20130912-HD (GG 5/31/13)

21-5 Enduring Questions (NEH)

The NEH Enduring Questions grant program supports faculty members in the teaching and development of a new course that will foster intellectual community through the study of an enduring question. This question-driven course will encourage undergraduates and teachers to grapple with a fundamental concern of human life addressed by the humanities, and to join together in a deep and sustained program of reading in order to encounter influential thinkers over the centuries and into the present day. What is an enduring question? The following list is neither prescriptive nor exhaustive but serves to illustrate. · What is good government? · Can war be just? · What is friendship? · What is evil? · Are there universals in human nature? · What are the origins of the universe? Enduring questions are questions to which no discipline, field, or profession can lay an exclusive claim. 21-6 ROSES 2013: Rapid Response and Novel Research in Earth Science (NASA)

In order to address its strategic goals and objectives, the Earth Science Division (ESD) of the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) acknowledges that there are important and highly relevant research topics and opportunities that cannot be anticipated in annual disciplinary and cross-disciplinary ROSES elements. In particular, it is usually not possible to solicit the following two types of activities: Research on Earth system events or opportunities to collaborate that occur unpredictably as rare and valuable targets of opportunity and that require rapid provision of resources to enable immediate research activity to take advantage of that target of opportunity, and First-Time investigations applying novel and innovative ideas to advance Earth remote sensing in a previously undeveloped area of remote sensing theory, technology utilization, or scientific application. This program element solicits proposals that advance the goals and objectives of NASA's Earth Science Division by conducting unique research to investigate 1) unforeseen or unpredictable Earth system events and opportunities that require rapid response, and 2) novel new ideas of potential high merit and relevance for ESD science that have not otherwise been solicited by NASA in the past three years. 21-7 Nuclear Science and Nuclear Nonproliferation Research (DOE)

The intent of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to award two separate five-year cooperative agreements to consortia of accredited U.S. Colleges and Universities to allow them to receive and administer funds for student and faculty research, fellowships, and scholarship funding awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation Research and Development (DNN R and D). Each cooperative agreement will be awarded to a consortium of Universities which will include the participation of a one or more DOE or NNSA National Laboratories as a consortium member. Individual consortium-member universities shall make specific contributions and shall receive specified portions of the funding. The consortium may include student and early career research fellowships and has a long-term objective of building expertise in nuclear nonproliferation detection. 21-8 Garrett A. Morgan Technology and Transportation Education Program Clearinghouse (DOT)

The purpose of the Garrett A. Morgan Technology and Transportation Education Program (GAMTTEP) is to improve the preparation of students, particularly women and minorities, in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through curriculum development and other activities related to transportation. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is accepting applications for a grant agreement to establish and operate a Garrett A. Morgan Technology and Transportation Education Program Clearinghouse. 21-10 Services Research for Autism Spectrum Disorder across the Lifespan (ServASD): Pilot Research on Services for Transition-Age Youth (R34)(NIH)

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support research to develop and pilot test strategies to assist transition-age youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families in planning for and smoothly transitioning into adult functioning and adult services. The ultimate goal is to develop a model for transition to adult supports and services that effectively: prevents lapses in services and supports; enhances functioning in work, education, social, familial, and other settings; maintains or improves health, safety, and quality of life; and/or reduces or maintains reductions in ASD-related symptoms. For the purposes of this FOA, transition-age youth refers to individuals with ASD who, within two years will age out of the services and supports delivered via K-12 education and other child/adolescent service systems. 21-11 Child Care Research Partnership Grants (ACF)

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) plans to solicit applications for Child Care Research Partnership Grants to support new research and evaluation activities developed and conducted through partnerships between Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) lead agencies in states and territories and researchers from institutions of higher education, research organizations and other eligible organizations. Research partnership teams must include a State, Territory, or Tribal CCDF lead agency and researchers affiliated with an accredited university or four-year college or an organization with the capacity to conduct research. These Child Care Research Partnership Grants aim to improve research capacity to respond to questions of immediate concern to policymakers, by conducting new research of relevance to state CCDF administrators. Child Care Research Partnership grantees will be expected to pursue research questions of national and state relevance and to develop their research questions and research designs in partnership with local and state child care stakeholders and researchers.
