Limited submission programs have sponsor restrictions on the number of proposals that may be submitted by a single institution and will require institutional screening to determine which applications will be submitted. 16-1 Endeavour Awards (Australia)

Interested in collaborating with a researcher in Australia or conducting short term research related to your dissertation? Consider applying for one of the following Endeavor Awards: The Endeavour Research fellowships provide financial support for postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows from the US and Canada to undertake short-term research (4-6 months) towards a masters or PhD (which they are enrolled in a participating country) or postdoctoral research in any field of study in Australia. An Endeavour Executive Award is a great opportunity to benefit your career. The Endeavour Executive Award provides you with the flexibility to design a program that advances both your professional and personal goals. In consultation with your host Australian organization, the one to four month program may include work placement, attendance at a conference, participation in a short term course or peer-to-peer learning.

16-2 Research on the Science and Technology Enterprise: Statistics and Surveys (NSF)

The National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES) of the National Science Foundation (NSF) is one of the thirteen principal federal statistical agencies within the United States. It is responsible for the collection, acquisition, analysis, reporting and dissemination of objective, statistical data related to the science and engineering enterprise in the United States and other nations that is relevant and useful to practitioners, researchers, policymakers and the public. The Center would like to enhance its efforts to support analytic and methodological research in support of its surveys, and to engage in the education and training of researchers in the use of large-scale nationally representative datasets. NCSES welcomes efforts by the research community to use NCSES data for research on the science and technology enterprise, to develop improved survey methodologies for NCSES surveys, to create and improve indicators of S&T activities and resources, and strengthen methodologies to analyze and disseminate S&T statistical data. To that end, NCSES invites proposals for individual or multi-investigator research projects, doctoral dissertation improvement awards, workshops, experimental research, survey research and data collection and dissemination projects under its program for Research on the Science and Technology Enterprise: Statistics and Surveys. 16-3 Research on the Health of LGBTI Populations [R01] (NIH)

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is committed to supporting research that will increase scientific understanding of the health status of various population groups and improve the effectiveness of health interventions and services for individuals within those groups. High priority is placed on research on populations that appear to have distinctive health risk profiles but have received insufficient attention from investigators. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) highlights a particular community: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and related populations (designated here as LGBTI populations). Basic, social, behavioral, clinical, and services research relevant to the missions of the sponsoring Institutes and Centers may be proposed. 16-4 Antarctic Research (NSF)

Scientific research and operational support of that research are the principal activities supported by the United States Government in Antarctica. The goals are to expand fundamental knowledge of the region, to foster research on global and regional problems of current scientific importance, and to use Antarctica as a platform from which to support research. The U.S. Antarctic Program provides support for fieldwork only when a compelling justification exists for doing the work in Antarctica (i.e., the work can only be done or is best done, in Antarctica). 16-5 Digitizing Historical Records (NARA)

The National Historical Publications and Records Commission seeks proposals that use cost-effective methods to digitize nationally significant historical record collections and make the digital versions freely available online. Projects must make use of existing holdings of historical repositories and consist of entire collections or series. The materials should already be available to the public at the archives and described so that projects can re-use existing information to serve as metadata for the digitized collection. 16-6 Research in Disabilities Education (RDE) (NSF)

The Research in Disabilities Education (RDE) program advances the goal of broadening the participation and achievement of postsecondary students with disabilities in STEM. This effort is realized by making strategic investments in educational and institutional Model Building and in basic and applied Broadening Participation Research in STEM Education (BPR). Model Building projects develop, replicate, translate and utilize innovative educational and institutional capacity building models to broaden the participation of postsecondary students with disabilities in STEM fields. Models employ evidence-based educational exemplars that improve the learning, participation, persistence and graduation of students with disabilities in associate, baccalaureate and graduate STEM degree programs. The Astrophysics Theory Program (ATP)supports efforts to develop the basic theory for NASA's space astrophysics programs. Proposals submitted for this program must both: be directly relevant to space astrophysics goals by facilitating the interpretation of data from space astrophysics missions or by leading to predictions that can be tested with space astrophysics observations; and consist predominantly of theoretical studies or the development of theoretical models. 16-10 ROSES 2012: Mars Fundamental Research (NASA)

The Mars Fundamental Research Program (MFRP) seeks to sponsor the best and most innovative scientific research concerning atmospheric, climatological, geologic, geophysical, and geochemical processes on Mars. The program offers opportunities for Mars research beyond those available from analyses of spacecraft data alone. The MFRP includes investigations that use: i) theoretical and experimental studies, including laboratory studies of analog materials, to investigate the coupled atmospheric and geological systems on Mars; ii) quantitative terrestrial field experiments that improve understanding of the in situ measurements that have been or that will be made on Mars; and iii) any other innovative research activities that demonstrate relevance to NASA's overarching goals for the scientific exploration of Mars. 16-12 Professional Fellows Empower Programs (DOS)

The Professional Fellows Division in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Office of Citizen Exchanges invites proposal submissions for one of three separate programs: the Empower Community Program, the Empower Access Program, and the Empower Partnership Program. The three Programs described in this RFGP support professional exchanges between the people of the United States and their counterparts in other countries who work to provide services and support to persons with disabilities and the communities in which they live. Utilizing fellowship models and institutional linkages, the Empower Programs will provide professional development opportunities for individuals and organizations aimed at strengthening institutional knowledge and organizational capacity, enhancing outreach capabilities, and increasing the resource base of the communities in which participants live and serve. 16-13 US -Tunisian University Collaboration in the field of Journalism (DOS)

The United States Embassy/Tunis is planning to support the implementation of a one-year long master's degree program on Investigative Journalism at the Tunis Journalism and Press Sciences Institute (IPSI). This program will focus on teaching the basic skills of investigative journalism to both entry-level journalists and mid-career professionals, with an emphasis on information sourcing, investigative techniques, and law. The program must include designing a curriculum, developing materials, virtual exchanges, faculty training and mentoring. 16-14 Global Connections and Exchange Program: U.S. - Australia Virtual Environmental Partnership (STATE)

The Youth Programs Division, Office of Citizen Exchanges, of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announces an open competition for the new U.S. - Australia Virtual Environment Partnership under the Global Connections and Exchange Program. Public and private non-profit organizations may submit proposals to conduct a program that will use connective technologies to create collaborative environmental science projects between eight American and eight Australian high schools. Applicant organizations will identify their own partner organization in Australia. Bi-national teams will work together on joint projects to investigate and develop solutions to local, regional, or global environmental water resource issues by using online tools, videoconferencing, virtual workshops, and other advanced methods of communication.
