38-1 Design for Accessibility (NEA)

The purpose of this Program Solicitation is to select an organization (Cooperator) to develop a comprehensive online resource of up-to-date cultural accessibility technical assistance. The Arts Endowment is partnering with the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute of Museum and Library Services on this project. 38-2 9th Annual P3 Awards: A National Student Design Competition for Sustainability Focusing on People, Prosperity, and the Planet (EPA)

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as part of the P3-People, Prosperity and the Planet Award Program, is seeking applications proposing to research, develop, and design solutions to real world challenges involving the overall sustainability of human society. The P3 competition highlights the use of scientific principles in creating innovative projects focused on sustainability. The P3 Awards program was developed to foster progress toward sustainability by achieving the mutual goals of economic prosperity, protection of the planet, and improved quality of life for its people--people, prosperity, and the planet--the three pillars of sustainability.

38-3 Short Courses on Mathematical, Statistical, and Computational Tools for Studying Biological Systems (R01) (NIH)

This FOA issued by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences encourages applications for Research Education Grants (R25) from institutions and organizations to conduct workshops and short courses to improve integration of mathematical, statistical, and computational approaches into biological and/or behavioral research. 38-5 Research Opportunities in Space Biology (NASA)

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released a NASA Research Announcement entitled "Research Opportunities in Space Biology." This NASA Research Announcement (NRA) solicits hypothesis-driven research proposals for both ground-based experiments and flight experiments in Space Biology. All proposals must describe hypothesis-driven experiments that will answer basic questions about how cells, plants and animals respond to changes in gravity. Proposals for ground-based experiments must demonstrate and describe a clear path to hypothesis testing in space flight experiments on the ISS or other appropriate space flight platforms. This NRA also requests proposals for rapid turn-around flight research using plants or Petri dish-based biological systems that will utilize either the Advanced Biological Research System (ABRS) hardware residing on the International Space Station (ISS) or the Biological Research in Canisters- Petri Dish Fixation Unit (BRIC-PDFU) hardware on any of several potential flight platforms (Based on science requirements and availability.) 38-6 Cyberlearning: Transforming Education Cyberlearning (NSF)

Through the Cyberlearning: Transforming Education program, NSF seeks to integrate advances in technology with advances in what is known about how people learn to: better understand how people learn with technology and how technology can be used productively to help people learn, through individual use and/or through collaborations mediated by technology; better use technology for collecting, analyzing, sharing, and managing data to shed light on learning, promoting learning, and designing learning environments; and design new technologies for these purposes, and advance understanding of how to use those technologies and integrate them into learning environments so that their potential is fulfilled.Cyberlearning awards will be made in three research categories, each focusing on a different stage of research and development: Exploratory (EXP), Design and Implementation (DIP), and Integration and Deployment (INDP). 38-7 Informal Science Education (ISE) (EHR)

The ISE program supports innovation in anywhere, anytime, lifelong learning, through investments in research, development, infrastructure, and capacity-building for STEM learning outside formal school settings. Like all NSF programs, ISE invests in Conferences, Symposia, and Workshops; EAGER and RAPID grants; and Grant Supplements (see section D below and the GPG). The ISE program also invests in five types of projects that are specific to the program: Research; Connecting Researchers and Public Audiences; Pathways; Full-Scale Development; and Broad Implementation. 38-8 Agriculture and Food Research Initiative: Food Security (USDA)

The Food Security Challenge Area RFA focuses on the societal challenge to keep American agriculture competitive while ending world hunger. In the Food Security Challenge Area RFA, specific program areas are designed to achieve the long-term outcome of increasing food availability and decreasing the number of food insecure individuals. Project types supported by AFRI within this RFA include single-function Extension Projects, multi-function Integrated Research, Education, and/or Extension Projects and Food and Agricultural Science Enhancement (FASE) Grants. 38-11 FY12 Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for Navy and Marine Corps Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Programs (ONR)

The purpose of this announcement is to receive proposals in support of the Naval Strategic Plan and the Office of Naval Research's scientific outreach and education mission to develop its next generation of scientists and engineers. This Program Announcement/Funding Opportunity is focused on the research of psychological health and well-being of military personnel and their families. Investigators must demonstrate logical reasoning and a sound scientific rationale established through a critical review and analysis of the literature for the proposal to be competitive. Research projects should include a well-formulated, testable hypothesis based on a strong scientific rationale. 38-14 Posco Visiting Fellowships (EWC)

The POSCO Visiting Fellowship Program is intended to promote research activities on Korean topics at the East-West Center. The Program invites outstanding scholars and policy makers to engage in policy-relevant, contemporary research on political, security, and economic issues in Northeast Asia, as they relate to Korea.
