The EPA Aging Initiative, located in the Office of Children's Health Protection and Environmental Education, is seeking proposals for a new grant opportunity for Building Healthy Communities for Active Aging: Training and Demonstration Projects. The purpose of the Secondary Education, Two-Year Postsecondary Education, and Agriculture in the K-12 Classroom Challenge (SPECA) Grants Program is to: enhance curricula in agricultural education; increase faculty teaching competencies; interest young people in pursuing higher education in order to prepare for scientific and professional careers in the food and agricultural sciences; promote the incorporation of agriscience and agribusiness subject matter into other instructional programs, particularly classes in science, business, and consumer education; facilitate joint initiatives by the grant recipient with other secondary schools, institutions of higher education that award an associate's degree, institutions of higher education that award a bachelor's degree, and nonprofit organizations supporting agriscience and agribusiness education, to maximize the development and use of resources, such as faculty, facilities, and equipment, to improve agriscience and agribusiness education; support other initiatives designed to meet local, State, regional, or national needs related to promoting excellence in agriscience and agribusiness education; and support current Agriculture in the Classroom programs for grades K-12. The Winn Feline Foundation is a nonprofit organization that funds research into medical problems affecting cats. During the fiscal year ending April 30, 2008, Winn funded ten grants in areas as feline infectious peritonitis, renal & liver diseases, mammary and oral cancers, genetics, and drug therapies. Studies applicable to all cats are encouraged. The foundation is also interested in projects that address problems in individual breeds. The foundation is interested in all areas of feline health, but also has dedicated funds for research into mediastinal lymphoma, feline infectious peritonitis, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. American Masterpieces: Three Centuries of Artistic Genius is a major initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts to acquaint Americans with the best of their cultural and artistic legacy. Through the initiative, reconstructions and restagings of significant dance works of the highest quality will be experienced by Americans in communities across the nation. The endowment plans to support a variety of projects that are artistically, historically, and culturally significant and that reflect the breadth of dance forms, styles, and techniques in America. Grants will be awarded in two areas: 1) for the reconstruction or restaging of significant American dance works and their performance at home and on tour by dance companies, presenters, and festivals; and 2) to college and university dance programs for the restaging, performance, and documentation of significant dance choreography in order to provide dance students with access to the legacy of American dance history.
DARPA is soliciting innovative research proposals in the area of DARPA Mathematical Challenges, with the goal of dramatically revolutionizing mathematics and thereby strengthening the scientific and technological capabilities of DoD. To do so, the agency has identified twenty-three mathematical challenges. DARPA seeks innovative proposals addressing these Mathematical Challenges. Proposals should offer high potential for major mathematical breakthroughs associated to one or more of these challenges. Responses to multiple challenges should be addressed in separate proposals. Microsoft Research seeks nominees who are advancing computing research in novel directions with the potential for high impact on the state of the art, and who demonstrate the likelihood of becoming thought leaders in the field. Because new faculty are so vital to the future of academic computer science, the Microsoft Research New Faculty Fellowship Program identifies, recognizes, and supports exceptional new faculty members engaged in innovative computing research. Nominees must hold a tenure-track faculty position in a U.S. or Canadian research university, and may be no more than six years from the completion of their most recent Ph.D., and Sc.D., or M.D. Ph.D. No more than one nomination from a university will be accepted.

AFOSR, in conjunction with the AFRL Space Vehicles Directorate (AFRL/RV), and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) announces a program to promote and sustain university research and education focused on small satellites (nanosats) and related technologies. The primary outcome of individual projects funded under this program is the design, fabrication and functional testing of a nanosat. Secondary objectives are to foster research in enabling technologies for nanosats and the design of experiments that can be performed by nanosats in orbit.
