The goals of the Partnerships for Innovation Program are to: 1) stimulate the transformation of knowledge created by the national research and education enterprise into innovations that create new wealth, build strong local, regional and national economies and improve the national well-being; 2) broaden the participation of all types of academic institutions and all citizens in NSF activities to more fully meet the broad workforce needs of the national innovation enterprise; and 3) catalyze or enhance enabling infrastructure necessary to foster and sustain innovation in the long-term. The NASD Investor Education Foundation supports educational programs and research with the goal of providing investors with high-quality, easily accessible information and tools to better understand investing in the markets. The foundation invites eligible organizations to submit grant proposals for research projects and/or educational programs that empower young adults, ages 18-24, who are about to enter the workforce to better prepare for their initial investment decisions and investing goals, including retirement.
GEAR UP supports early college preparation and awareness activities for low-income students. The School Leadership Program is designed to assist high-need local educational agencies (LEAs) in the development, enhancement, or expansion of innovative programs to recruit, train, and mentor principals (including assistant principals) to serve in high-need schools through such activities as: 1) Providing financial incentives to aspiring new principals; 2) Providing stipends to principals who mentor new principals; 3) Carrying out professional development programs in instructional leadership and management; and 4) Providing incentives that are appropriate for teachers or individuals from other fields who want to become principals and that are effective in retaining new principals. The goal of this PAR is to support research on health promotion, disease prevention, and health disparities that is jointly conducted by communities and researchers. Community-based participatory research (CBPR) is defined as scientific inquiry conducted in communities and in partnership with researchers. The process of scientific inquiry is such that community members, persons affected by the health condition, disability or issue under study, or other key stakeholders in the community's health have the opportunity to be full participants in each phase of the work (from conception - design - conduct - analysis - interpretation - conclusions - communication of results). The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as part of its Science to Achieve Results (STAR) program, is seeking proposals from researchers in economics, business administration, law, decision sciences, and other social sciences to address issues associated with environmental information disclosure. Researchers are invited to identify how environmental information obtained through information disclosure rules and voluntary programs is used and by whom, the consequences such use has on behavior, and the resulting changes in environmental performance. In 2003, the National Wildlife Refuge System celebrated 100 years of conserving wildlife and habitat through refuges. In honor of the Refuge Centennial, the Walt Disney Company, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation are supporting the 2005 National Wildlife Refuge System Centennial Scholarship Program, which seeks to support students whose research will contribute toward improved management and understanding of the diverse fish, wildlife and plant resources found on America's National Wildlife Refuges. The student must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree (sophomores and juniors in the current academic year only) in environmental science, natural resource management, biology, public policy, education, geography, political science, or related disciplines.
