Research Connections

All engaged in research, scholarly, and creative activity and discovery at K-State are invited to attend and exhibit at this internal K-State Research event.

On November 7, 2017, plan to:

  • Explore interdisciplinary collaborations,
  • Find resources, and
  • Promote your work.

The event will be held in the K-State Alumni Center Banquet Room from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with setup starting at 1:00 p.m.

Exhibitors will have a table and display space for posters, banners, signs, handouts, and some limited equipment or other items. Sponsors are the Office of the Vice President for Research, the K-State Institute for Commercialization, the Kansas State University Foundation, and the Career Center.

Event history

May 2013: A group came together to support K-State corporate engagement efforts. The group created a Working With Industry Boot Camp and a series of workshops to support faculty efforts to forge relationships with industry sponsors.

Spring 2015: K-State researchers were invited to a Research Showcase event to inform the internal community of research efforts and resources and to support the development of interdisciplinary teams. The event was a success, so a second Research Showcase was planned.

Spring 2016: Selected outside guests including current and prospective industry partners were invited to the second K-State Research Showcase.

May 2017: A third K-State Research Showcase traveled to K-State Olathe, where K-State researchers successfully exhibited research capabilities, facilities, and resources to a broad cross-section of area and regional industry representatives.

November 2017 and May 2018: Feedback from past events has been positive, so another showcase for industry is planned for May 16, 2018 at K-State Olathe. We've also heard that researchers appreciate the chance to communicate their strengths and priorities to prospective internal collaborators and to hear what their K-State colleagues are doing, so this year we're offering Research Connections to provide that opportunity.
