Ether Anesthesia

Ether will not be approved for animal studies at the KSU as an anesthetic due to problems concerning its

  • Safety factor
  • Irritant qualities
  • Induction of pulmonary edema.

Exceptions to the guideline concerning ether anesthesia will be considered and reviewed by the IACUC on a case by case basis only with overwhelming scientific justification.
