How do I obtain residency for fee purposes?
Resident tuition classification is determined by criteria in Kansas statutes and regulations of the Kansas Board of Regents. You may obtain an application and information handout which outlines the rules and regulations pertaining to residency at the Registrar's Office, 118 Anderson Hall. The responsibility of enrolling under the proper residence classification for fee purposes is placed on the student. If there is any question concerning resident classification, it is the responsibility of the student when registering and paying fees to raise the question with the Registrar's Office.

When/where should I submit a residency application?
The Registrar's Office processes applications for residency for continuous undergraduate and Veterinary Medicine students. Applications are accepted 45 calendar days prior to the first day of the semester and up to 30 days after the first day of the semester.
If you are a new undergraduate applicant, a readmitted undergraduate student, or a first-semester undergraduate student, contact the Office of Admissions (785)532-6250.
If you are a graduate student, contact the Graduate School (785)532-6191.

What can I do if my application is denied?
If your application for residency is denied, you will be notified of such in writing. You will then be given the opportunity to appeal the denial of residency, in person, before the Out of State Fee Appeals Committee. The decisions of the Appeals Committee shall not be subject to further administrative review by any officer or committee of Kansas State University, or by the state Board of Regents. An appeal of an adverse residency determination by the Appeals Committee can be made to the District Court.
