UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC WARNING/DISMISSAL POLICY
Effective Spring Semester, 1994
Total hours, including Pre-Academic Fresh Start, transfer work accepted,
KSU resident graded hours attempted and miscellaneous hours completed
establish the level for academic warning and dismissal calculation. However,
transfer hours and grades are not computed in KSU grade point averages.
ACADEMIC WARNING
Students who earn less than a 2.000 KSU semester or cumulative GPA will
be placed on academic warning.
Students are automatically taken off academic warning when the KSU cumulative
grade point average reaches the required level (2.0) in Spring or Fall
EOS grade posting.
Students are DISMISSED if (1) they have been on academic warning the
previous semester, (2) they have accumulated a total of 20 or more semester
hours, and (3) their KSU grade point averages are at the following levels:
Total Hours* KSU cumulative GPA less than
20-29 1.50
30-45 1.75
46-60 1.80
61-75 1.85
76-90 1.90
91-105 1.95
greater than 105 2.00
*see first paragraph
Students (freshmen or transfer) who earn less than 1.000 semester GPA
in their first semester at KSU will be dismissed.
Students who neglect their academic responsibilities may be dismissed
at anytime on recommendation of their academic dean.
Students will not be dismissed if their KSU semester GPA is at least
2.200 on 12 or more graded hours (or the minimum grade point average established
by the student's college, if higher).
Continuing students whose KSU cumulative GPAs are above the dismissal
threshold but whose KSU semester GPAs are less than 1.000 will have registration
for the next term held subject to review by their academic dean.
Dismissed students must normally wait at least 2 semesters before being
reinstated.
