Tuition/Fee Policy Changes

What has CHANGED?  What is NEW?

The University has made some tuition and fee policy changes for this fall.

Some information that was in print prior to the time that these changes were approved (i.e. the Fall/Summer 2002 Course Schedule booklet) is now out of date.  The on-line course schedule booklet information has been updated in the following areas:  Calendar, Enrollment Time Chart, Drop/Add, Refund Policy, Supplementary Information (A/PassF/Credit?No Credit—Fall Semester, Instructor Drop).  Refer to http://courses.ksu.edu/fall2002/booklet/index.htm

Policies and procedures have changed for adding and dropping courses, for course drop-date deadlines, and for tuition and fees refunds.

ADDING/DROPPING COURSES
The tuition and fees for courses are assessed and refunded independently; all course adds should be processed before course drops.  Students can add and drop courses via KATS (through September 2nd, 9 p.m.) or by going to the Enrollment Services Office.

COURSE DROP-DATE
Course drop-date deadlines are based upon the total number of calendar days from the start date through the end date of a course, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.  For the Fall 2002 Semester, a course with 98 or more calendar days (a course14-16 weeks in length), the last day to drop a course without a “W” is September 30th and the last day to drop a course with a “W” is November 1st.  For a course with 97 or fewer calendar days (a course 13 or fewer weeks in length), the drop date deadlines are prorated.

TUITION AND FEES REFUND
The tuition and fees refund policy now has three refund periods (100%, 50%, 0%) instead of four (100%, 90%, 50%, 0%).  The number of days for a refund period is based upon the total number of calendar days from the start date through the end date of a course, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.  Tuition and fees for courses are assessed and refunded independently.

For the Fall 2002 Semester, a course with 70 or more calendar days (a course 10-16 weeks in length), the last day to drop a course with a 100% refund is September 15* and the last day with a 50% refund is September 22*.   The 100% refund period is effective for 21 calendar days; the 50% refund period, which begins at the end of the 100% refund period, is effective for 7 calendar days.   The 0% refund period begins at the end of the 50% refund period.

For a course with 69 or fewer calendar days (a course 9 or fewer weeks in length), the refund periods are prorated.

*The deadline is extended through the next business day if the refund deadline date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday.
