Description of Research

Currently, my research area of focus concerns the impact of trauma experiences on the development of posttraumatic stress symptoms in youth and young adults. Specifically, my research focuses on how the experience of chronic emotional trauma across the lifespan (perpetrated in the home, school/neighborhood, and in romantic relationships) can influence negative outcomes. In conjunction with this research, I am interested in how certain variables, namely resilience, forgiveness, social support and religion/spirituality can serve as protective factors buffering the effects of negative outcomes following experiences of chronic emotional trauma.
