Congrats to New Initiates:

We would like to recognize our new initiates for the Spring 2007 semester. Their names have been added to the Members page of the Website. Becoming a member of Psi Chi means that you have worked incredibly hard throughout your first few years of college and that's something of which you should all be proud. You have kept at least a 3.2 G.P.A. overall and a 3.2 G.P.A. in your psychology courses. That should be great motivation to you to keep working hard in your classes. Keep up the good work!

Trip to Ellsworth Prison:

Psi Chi will be traveling on a day trip to the Ellsworth Correctional Facility  in Ellsworth, KS on Wednesday, April 4th, 2007. The facility houses minimum, medium and maximum inmates. A tour of the facility will be given. For more information please visit the prison's home page at http://docnet.dc.state.ks.us/ecf/standard/default.htm  Sign up today or e-mail Heather at hah6688@ksu.edu if you are interested in attending!

Tightrope-Walking Rats:
Between 15 - 20 volunteers are needed to train our tightrope-walking rats for the K-State Open House. If you are interested in helping out with this, sign up today or contact Psi Chi Vice President, Tim Burrell at tpb7777@ksu.edu. This is a lot of fun and you will be trained on how to train and care for laboratory rats.

Fundraising T-Shirts:
We are going to be selling t-shirrs to raise some money for Psi Chi. There are two designs that we are considering. Please let us know which one you would like to see us use. We will keep you informed on when they will go on sale.

Cords and Stoles:
Attention May Graduates:
Psi Chi Members graduating in May can order Psi Chi cords or stoles to wear on graduation. Honor Cords are $11 and Honor Stoles are $21. Sign ups will be available later. Just keep this in mind.

Pubcrawl:
Psi Chi has not had a pubcrawl in the past few years, and the officers thought it is about time to have one! The date is Thursday, March 29th, 2007. This is the Thursday after we get back from Spring Break. We will be making t-shirts for it also. If you are interested in the pubcrawl, please contact Heather, Amber or Jericho to sign up. More details to come.

Psychology Teaching Practicum:
Applications are being taken for an Undergraduate Teaching Practicum for Fall 2007.  If you would like an exciting experience teaching a recitation class once a week for four hours credit, check this out.

Applications are due to Dr. Harris by March 9.  Feel free to ask if you have any
questions about this.  Applications are also available in an envelope on
Dr. Harris's office door (BH 421). Click here to go to application.

Spring Banquet:

At the end of each school year, Psi Chi holds an annual banquet in the spirit of recognizing undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty in the Psychology department. This year, the new Psychology Alumni Board will be attending as well. This year's banquet will be held on Saturday, April 21st from 5:30 - 7:30 at the Aggieville Pizza Hut. Mark your calendars to attend and be watching for more details as the semester progresses.

Bluemont Hall 588:
Attention all members!  Psi Chi has its own room - Bluemont Hall 588 - located right across from BH 5102.  The room now has a computer, a printer and internet access.  So if you’re in need of a nice, quiet place to study or sit back and relax, or if you can’t find a free computer at the library, this is for you!  The room key is located in the Psychology Department’s main office on the fourth floor of Bluemont.  Just ask for it, and you’ve got your own office for the day.

Officers for 2007-2008:
Psi Chi will be looking for members who are interested in becoming officers for Fall 2007-Spring 2008.  For more information, contact Heather Hilgenkamp.
