The Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President seeks a founding Director for the Center for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship at Kansas State University. The Director is expected to have a commitment to and provide leadership and vision for developing and nurturing an entrepreneurial culture for students, faculty and staff at K-State; foster creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit across the campus; and promote the Center’s goals and activities to university and non-university constituents. The Director will be expected to provide coordination of programmatic efforts, including establishing a minor in entrepreneurship studies, leading fund raising efforts, building partnerships and teams of faculty, and managing the budget and personnel of the Center. The position is a 12-month position, will report through the Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President and be a member of the Provost’s staff.
Experience as an entrepreneur; an understanding of and experience in multi-disciplinary initiatives; a proven track record of creativity, collaboration and a commitment to off-campus engagement including raising private capital; ability to foster an environment that respects multiculturalism, diversity and collegiality; successful supervisory and/or administrative experience; effective written and oral communication skills; excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities; an understanding of academic policies, processes, and procedures; knowledge of current entrepreneurship education activities, trends, and procedures; and a Ph.D. or other terminal degree or 10 years of relevant entrepreneurial experience.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Anticipated appointment is by January 1, 2009.
