Round Two Funding Results
2004-2005
In answer to the initial Targeted Excellence RFP that was extended in September 2004, 32 pre-proposals
were received for consideration. Of these, 11 were chosen to submit full proposals, with 6 of those
receiving funding. Recommendations regarding proposals to be funded were made to Provost Nellis by a
panel of reviewers from on, and off, campus chaired by K-State Professor Curtis Kastner (Food Science Institute),
with final allocations for funding as follows:
- Center for Sensors and Sensor Systems-$1,500,000 (contingent upon receiving $1,200,000 extramural
equipment funding)--Gurdip Singh, Douglas McGregor, James Edgar, co-PI's
- Center for the Understanding of Origins-education emphasis, $435,000 (final year funding of $100,000
contingent upon demonstrated success in attracting extramural funding)-Tim Bolton, Carolyn Ferguson, Bruce
