VC˛ @ K-State

This Fall Semester 2008, K-State students, regardless of their departments or major disciplines, will once again have the opportunity to participate in a pilot program, Venture Creation Circles ( VC² ), which is being offered as a special course-sequence to strengthen their entrepreneurship skills and prepare them to master the business of their profession. VC² provides a hands-on learning experience that is embedded in the practical world of business. The students will work under the guidance of experienced faculty facilitators and will be mentored by entrepreneurs passionate about helping students achieve entrepreneurial excellence.

The pilot VC² is a two-semester course that begins in the fall and ends in the spring semester. During the fall semester, students will learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and develop an appreciation of the entrepreneurial process. They will put their knowledge to use during the spring semester by building and managing their own ventures. Students will get an opportunity to pitch their businesses to potential investors at the end of the spring semester for advice concerning the direction of their businesses, and, possibly, for financial support.

VC² is a fast-paced, exciting and challenging course directed toward students eager to practice the business of their profession. Students will have two hours a week of instruction, during which they will learn concepts and theories of entrepreneurship and how their disciplines fit together with entrepreneurship. They will spend about one evening a month in conversation with experienced entrepreneurs. Finally, students will launch and manage businesses that allow them to take products or services they develop to market.

VC² is a great opportunity for K-State students to begin practicing the business of their profession and positioning themselves to chart new and innovative career paths.
