All of my work was related to issues around assessment of student learning. Within this, I focused on the following activities and products:
This work began, actually, in the Summer of 2002. After stepping back a bit from the process in 2003-2004, I re-engaged in the late Summer of 2004 and continued through to the visit in February. This involved many readings of the self-study report, planning with Ruth and Patricia and Gail the logistics for the actual site visit, identifying and preparing faculty/staff and student participants in the visit, and then the visit itself.
Also begun in the Fall, I worked with Ruth and Patricia to write templates for assessment plans and annual reports, and scoring rubrics for their evaluation. We set in place College Assessment Review Committees and the University Assessment Facilitators Committee.
I took the lead on writing a proposal and then the paper for a presentation called, "Institutional Culture Change: Assessment of Student Learning," that we delivered at the annual meeting of HLC in Chicago in April.
After meeting with Betty Stevens in Continuing Education, I wrote a report and a set of recommendations for the assessment of student learning in mediated courses. After consultation with the Deans Council, a revised set of recommendations is being implemented.
I presented a model from the Women's Studies web site to Deans and Department Heads at a 1 st Tuesday breakfast meeting for including degree program and university slo's and other information about assessment of student learning on departmental web sites. I prepared set of required and suggested elements for these web presentations, which was distributed to Deans and Department Heads.
I worked with Ruth and Jackie Spears to put together a proposed list of names of faculty/staff and students who will serve on a task force that will look at a new or revised plan for general education at K-State.
I wrote a draft of an RFP for a small grant program at K-State through which faculty could get support for the development of models for teaching and learning in the area of multicultural competence and diversity.
