The Assistant Provost provides resource support to the Provost and to other members of the Provost's staff regarding academic policies procedures and programs, professional development opportunities, and the teaching and research awards sponsored by the Office of the Provost. The Assistant Provost coordinates several programs: the New Faculty Orientation Program, the Provost's Lecture Series, the Big 12 Faculty Fellowship Program, and selection committees for the Leadership Institutes, University Department or Unit Award for Enhancing Diversity, Coffman Chair for University Distinguished Teaching Scholars, Presidential Award for Outstanding Department Head, Undergraduate Teaching, and Advisor, the Case Teaching Awards, Carnegie Scholars Awards, and other national nominations. Assistance is also provided for the coordination of the Department Heads Workshop Series and the Annual Fall Department Heads Retreat.
The Assistant Provost serves as the Provost's representative on a number of university committees and task forces, including CMIS, Laser, SSIA, CAPP, Dispute Resolution Group, and the Undergraduate Honor Council, and provides assistance to the Provost with administrative appeals, Targeted Excellence, the Compensation Task Force, and is the Provost's liaison to Faculty Senate.
