K-State has a rich history of addressing both pre- and post-harvest issues that directly impact human health, agricultural security, and the economy. Model food emergency response plan now available
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in cooperation with the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA), USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on February 28, 2006, the availability of a model Food Emergency Response Plan Template. The response plan is intended to enhance the protection of the nation's agricultural industry and food security.
International Symposium on Agroterrorism
The 2006 International Symposium on Agroterrorism (ISA) will be held September 25 through 29, 2006 at the Westin Crown Center, Kansas City, Missouri. The 2006 ISA will build upon the information that was presented at the initial symposium, devoting increased time and attention to specific topics related to the prevention, detection and investigation of an intentional attack against the food supply. The symposium will include key note speakers, presentations from world renowned subject matter experts, case studies, break-out sessions that will track subject matter disciplines and multi-media video productions. A Food Chain Security Expo Center, showcasing exhibitors from private industry, academia, non-profit organizations and government entities will also be a part of the 2006 ISA. Register here.
