MPA Degree Requirements
The MPA program is consists of four main elements.
First, all students are required to take a group of core courses which will provide exposure to subject matter all administrators must master. For example, core courses address research methods, policy analysis, personnel administration, organization theory and budgeting.
Second, students choose from a number of elective offerings designed to provide a well-rounded knowledge needed by administrators. Topics include administrative ethics, executive leadership challenges and administrative law.
Third, students develop an area of specialization such as public budgeting and finance, planning, security studies, or state and local government.
Finally, pre-service students are required to complete an internship.
