In 2003, I conducted a survey of the members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (with Yusuf Tekin and Walter Forrest) to investigate issues such as the behavior of MPs, executive-legislative relations, and legislative efficiency in a parliamentary system. A paper using this survey has been published in the International Political Science Review.  This paper tests whether the legislative theories developed for the American Congress travel and apply to other legislatures and it looks into the possibility of bridging the gap between the legislative research in the US and parliamentary research in other democratic systems.
I have also published a book (in Turkish and co-authored with Yusuf Tekin) using the same survey in 2007:  Parliament and Parliamentary Role Perceptions in the Turkish Grand National Assembly in its 22^nd Term.

 In the future, I will extend this research by examining the institutions of Turkish democracy in comparison to those in other Middle Eastern and Islamic nations.
