Vita
Dr. Holland is Associate Provost for International Programs and Professor of Political Science. Formerly he was Head of the Political Science Department at the University of Memphis. He was also an Associate Professor at the University of Vermont, a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin—Madison, and an Assistant Professor at Luther College. He was also a Fulbright Lecturer at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan.
Dr. Holland has published several books (The Political Role of Law Courts in Modern Democracies, Judicial Activism in Comparative Perspective, Federalism and the Environment: Environmental Policymaking in Australia, Canada, and the United States) and articles in numerous scholarly journals (Justice System Journal, Criminal Justice Review, Law and Policy Quarterly, Policy Studies Journal, Canadian Journal of Law and Society, Quebec Studies and Quarterly Journal of Ideology).
Dr. Holland has received several large grants from the National Science Foundation and the U. S. Department of Education, including funding for a political science laboratory, an Asian Studies program, group study for K-12 teachers in China, exchanges of U. S. and European Union students, and improvement in teaching American history in elementary and secondary schools.
Dr. Holland is the chief international officer for Kansas State University. In addition, he is working on a study of the implementation of Brown v. Board of Education in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision in 2004.
