Stephen Long earned
his B.A. from Furman University (1999) and his M.A. and Ph.D. from
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2001, 2005).
His current research
focuses on the effects of countries' histories of conflict and cooperation
on their international interactions, specifically the initiation
of wars and the violation of formal cease-fires. He is also interested
the
political causes of military effectiveness and the reputation effects
of past military performance. Project descriptions, papers, and

Prof. Long teaches
courses on international relations, conflict processes, and security
studies.
