This is a quick review of "What's New" in the Policies and Procedures Manual and provides links to the chapters that were recently added or revised in the manual. Revisions made in each chapter are shown in red bold italic type. There is also a list serve which will notify Kansas State University administrative personnel whenever there is a change or addition to the Policies and Procedures Manual. 4015, Criminal Background Checks, Issued September 30, 2008, to provide guidance for the requirment that we perform criminal background checks on persons hired for certain university positions.
4220, Hours of Work, Overtime, Overtime Pay and Compensatory Time, Revised September 26, 2008, to redefine "half-day increments" to reflect flex scheduling.
4650, Unclassified Employee Personnel Actions, Revised September 26, 2008, to remove reference to KATS on the Appointment Form and Child Development Center (CDC) as a Local Agency.

4860, Classified Employee Leaves, Revised August 15, 2008, to reflect new accrual rates for employees with 10 years or more service, and to indicate the new maximum accrual totals. Additionally, the reference to converting excess vacation leave has been eliminated. These changes were approved by Kansas Board of Regents on June 12, 2008.
4810, Retirement Plans, Policies and Procedures, Revised August 7, 2008, to reflect a change in the maximum annual leave payout for classified employees upon retirement.

4870 College Study by Employees, Revised January 1, 2007, to align the semesters with the intersessions associated with each semester and changes the application due dates.
3430 Security for Information, Computing and Network Resources, Revised November 8, 2006 to provide an update to section .050 to meet university security needs.
6130 Kansas Sales Tax, Revised October 20, 2006 to provide information on the required exemption forms to be maintained for exempt sales and the web site where blank forms can be obtained. Section .060 Sales Tax Rate has been added to provide information on the destination sales tax rate to be assessed and where the rate can be obtained. Also section .080 Records Maintained has been added to provide information on the records which the State requires to be maintained.
4030 Classified Employee Peer Review Committee Hearing Process, Revised October 19, 2006 to state that for all appeals of proposed dismissals, the hearing will be recorded by a court reporter.
4860 Classified Employee Leaves, Revised October 1, 2006 to reflect an amendment to Kansas Administrative Regulation 1-9-7b to authorize a maximum of 15 working days of military leave with pay for active duty within each 12-month period beginning October 1 and ending September 30 of the following year. This amendment is effective October 1, 2006.
4865 Unclassified Employee Leaves, Revised October 1, 2006 to reflect an amendment to Kansas Administrative Regulation 1-9-7b to authorize a maximum of 15 working days of military leave with pay for active duty within each 12-month period beginning October 1 and ending September 30 of the following year. This amendment is effective October 1, 2006.
4865 Unclassified Employee Leaves, Revised September 21, 2006 to incorporate the changes in vacation leave provisions recently approved by the Kansas Board of Regents that allows unclassified employees appointed to a less than full time and less than twelve month non-instructional position to earn and accumulate vacation leave. This change is effective September 21, 2006.
3485 Protecting Sensitive Data by Desktop Search Products, Issued August 18, 2006 to establish the University policy on Google Desktop and other desktop search programs may be installed only if the scope of the files indexed and searched is limited to files stored on the local desktop, and that no files or search indexes are copied to any other computer.
3495 Collection, Use and Protection of Social Security Numbers, Issued August 18, 2006 to establish the University policy on the use of the SSN as an identifier will be discontinued, except where authorized for employment, IRS reporting, federal student financial aid processing, state and federal reporting requirements, and a limited number of other business transactions.
4720 Hourly Student Employees, Revised July 27, 2006 to clarify age requirements for hiring non-university students.
