This is a quick review of "What's New" in the Policies and Procedures Manual and provides links to the chapters that were recently added or revised in the manual. Revisions made in each chapter are shown in red bold italic type. There is also a list serve which will notify Kansas State University administrative personnel whenever there is a change or addition to the Policies and Procedures Manual. Kansas State University employees may be added to the list by sending an e-mail message to Warren Strauss at (wstrauss@ksu.edu).
4410 Recruitment and Selection for Classified Positions, revised November 18, 2009, to modify the interview requirements for candidates who qualify for Veterans' Preference.
3045 Official Bulletin Boards, revised November 10, 2009, to reflect the new link in Appendix A for the updated EEO is the Law poster which needs to be replaced on Official Bulletin Boards.
4650 Unclassified Employee Personnel Actions, revised October 9, 2009, to change the minimum TOEFL iBT score required for spoken English.
4080 Performance Management Process, revised September 1, 2009, to incorporate the new State of Kansas Performance Management Process procedures for classified employees.
3431, Access Controls Security Policy, Issued August 31, 2009, to define the access control standards for system use notices, remote access, and definition and documentation of trust relationships for K-State information systems.
3436, Media Sanitization and Disposal Policy, Issued August 25, 2009, to define the policy to protect University Data from unauthorized disclosure.
3439, System Development and Maintenance Security Policy, Issued August 25, 2009, to define requirements for system security planning and management to improve protection of University information system resources.
4810, Retirement Plans, Policies and Procedures, revised July 31, 2009, to include information regardingthe Limited Health Care Bridge which was approved by the Board of Regents in January 2009.
4410, Recruitment and Selection for Classified Positions, revised June 16, 2009, to further define the classified recruitment types and to include unclassified, temporary, and students in the definition of internal candidates.
4220, Hours of Work, Overtime, Overtime Pay and Compensatory Time, revised June 15, 2009, to update the federal minimum wage and the student minimum wage.
4650, Unclassified Employee Personnel Actions, revised June 15, 2009, to clarify that all non-faculty positions default to non-exempt unless determined to be exempt by Position Administration.
8530, Student Organizations On-Campus Event Policy, Issued May 27, 2009, is intended to cover on-campus events coordinated by registered student organizations.
8560, OSAS Political Activities Guidelines, Issued May 27, 2009, is intended to cover the University policies regarding political activities on campus.
8570, OSAS Publicity Regulations, Issued May 27, 2009, is intended to cover regulations on-campus regarding commercial advertising.
8580, OSAS Sales, Solicitation and Advertising Policy, Issued May 27, 2009, is intended to cover the regulation of commercial activity and the posting and distribution of advertising materials on the campus.
4720, Hourly Student Employees, revised June 12, 2009, to reflect the change in the K-State minimum wage effective June 14, 2009.
4870, Tuition Assistance for University Employees, revised June 10, 2009, to outline new application procedures for tuition assistance.

3434, IT Security Incident Reporting and Response Policy, Issued April 15, 2009, to provided the policy which governs the actions required for reporting or responding to security incidents involving K-State information and/or information technology resources to ensure effective and consistent reporting and handling of such events.
3438, Physical and Environmental Security Policy, Issued April 15, 2009, to defines the requirements for protecting university information and technology resources from physical and environmental threats in order to reduce the risk of loss, theft, damage, or unauthorized access to those resources, or interference with K-State operations.
7840, Use of KSU Buildings and Grounds, revised March 27, 2009, to add the statement "All office doors should remain locked after hours or when offices are unattended for a prolonged period of time."
3720, General Safety Policies, revised March 16, 2009, to update Section .080 on smoking to align with the City of Manhattan ordinance.
3045, Official Bulletin Boards, revised March 10, 2009, to reflect several updated posters which are placed on Official Bulletin Boards. Including being able to access the required posters by selecting that specific link in Appendix A of the PPM Chapter.
4060, Workplace Violence Policy, revised February 26, 2009, to define the members of the Critical Incident Response Team.
3790, Disc Golf Play, added February 18, 2009, to set the policy regarding the playing of Disc Golf on the University main campus.
4060, Workplace Violence Policy, revised February 18, 2009, to identify the roles of the Threat Management Team and the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) in relationship to the Workplace Violence Policy.
4015, Criminal Background Checks, revised January 30, 2009, to include student interns in Extension and to add procedures in compliance with Red Flag Regulations.
