Why Pi Kappa Alpha?
At Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) we recruit young men based on scholarship, leadership, athletics, and most important we recruit gentlemen. We fondly call this SLAG nationwide to describe our well-rounded group of aspiring men.
Greek Awards:
Second chapter house on campus out of 25 fraternities.
One of two house to receive the gold award.
House Cosmetics:
Beginning in the fall of 2005, the Pike House under went a major landscape transformation. In the front shrubs were planted in fresh made beds covered with mulch. In the back, a sport court was donated by a prominent alumnus, which allows us to play basketball, volleyball, and even tennis all in our own backyard. A week with long hours was devoted to cleaning up and clearing both sides of the parking lot, so fresh mulch could be laid. And after days of hard work and effort put in by much of the active chapter, our house is now one of the best looking houses in the Kansas State Greek community.
Scholarship:
After generous donations from our alumni we received over 14,000 dollars to spend on the renewal of our study room in the house. We bought a new printer/copier along with new tables, chairs and couches. To complete the study room the house added a fresh coat of paint and hung pictures of our various awards, prominent Pikes, and house photos. Currently we hold over 20 different majors with over 30 members ranking on our Pi Kappa Alpha honor role. Each semester we offer up to 100 dollars per active with the highest or most improved GPA. With the knowledge of over 55 in-house members and over 25 out-of-house members we guide our pledges and new initiates through their classes with all the help they need. We strive to direct our members to become the most they can be scholastically with study hours and grade checks.
Athletics:
In athletics we excel on campus currently holding fourth place out of 24 fraternities throughout the campus. We took the championship in ping-pong, wrestling, mini-golf, and track. We also came in second place in soccer and had an undefeated regular season in volleyball. Holding athletics as one of our primary cornerstones; we take competition very seriously while keeping in mind sportsmanship and good spirits. Noticing our desire for athleticism, our alumni donated a full court sport court for our back yard which was recently completed in the fall of 2005.
