Another eventful International Week comes to an end for the Philippine Student Association (PhilSA) as they celebrate the uniqueness and richness of their culture through a song and trilogy of dances at a talent show held at McCain Auditorium. The group performed a medley of dances from the rural suite namely Pandanggo Oasiwas, Maglalatik and Tinikling. Roderick Agbisit, graduate student in Grain Science, sang a romantic ballad entitled Habang May Buhay accompanied on guitar by Jonathan Aguilar, graduate student in Biological and Agricultural Engineering. Both performances received much accolade from the audience as well as the organizers. The show also showcased performances from Colombia, Taiwan, Sri Langka, Costa Rica, Nepal, India and Japan.
The week started with the
Cultural Exhibition at the Union
Courtyard, K-State Union. Different exhibits included a
variety of items from national costumes to figurines to
currencies. PhilSA showcased handicrafts like bags and
souvenirs, game items like the sungka, posters showcasing sceneries and
beaches, and a collage of pictures of Filipino faces spelling out the
word ‘Philippines’.
Later that evening, the Fashion Show took place at the Forum Hall,
K-State Union. Models from different countries paraded in
their traditional and national costumes. PhilSA showcased
their traditional Barong Tagalog, Kimona and Maria Clara
attire. The models who participated were Jonathan Aguilar,
