Position Announcement Kansas State University Center on Aging seeking Research Assistant for term appointment through 8/31/08. Applicant must have background in Culture change in Nursing Homes: Promoting more social, non-traditional models of long-term care which includes implementing progressive, innovative approaches to care to make a significant difference in the quality of care and the quality of life for those living and working in long-term care environments and focusing on the philosophy and values of changing the culture of care as well as providing different strategies and exemplars for accomplishing such changes. Position will research specific topics and write educational modules which will be used for education of nursing home staff across Kansas. Will compose and give presentations to nursing home staff, project advisory group, and at state and national conferences. Required qualifications: Strong grammar and writing skills, ability to work within and meet specific deadlines, experience in giving educational presentations, ability to communicate and interact with people from a variety of backgrounds and educational levels. Proficient in doing internet research and in using Word Perfect, Microsoft Word, and Power Point. Understanding of library resources, library searches, and interlibrary loan. Working knowledge of nursing home operations and culture change principles. Ability to organize and conduct meetings. Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated ability to translate written modules into on-line instructional curricula, familiarity with Dreamweaver and Excel software.
