| PROJECT TITLE : | Adaptability of AASHTO Provisional Standards for Condition Survey in Kansas |
| SPONSOR : | Kansas Department of Transportation, (KDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) |
| OBJECTIVE : |
The
objective of this project is to investigate, test and quantify the effect
of AASHTO provisional standards for pavement condition survey on KDOT practices.
The project would oversee an effort to obtain pavement surface condition
data by automated means following the AASHTO provisional standards. If
necessary, a separate proposal will be developed for submission to FHWA
for testing the provisional standards on the KDOT system. This project
would evaluate the data collection processes and the data collected to
provide information to help KDOT determine the costs and benefits associated
with automated data collection and with incorporation of the provisional
standards. The results of this research should allow for a possible follow
up study by KDOT to evaluate the impacts of the different data collection
methods on NOS input.
