STUDENT MONEY REMEDY
The sagging economy hogs the headlines, but there’s also good news about the credit crunch: K-State’s College of Human Ecology, the KSU Foundation, and Student Governing Association developed a student financial planning center to open next fall. To help students graduate with strong financial footing, the focus will be on fiscal responsibility, especially credit card debt and investing.

The History of Rock ‘n’ Roll curriculum mixes archival concert footage with “live” performances. In class, assistant professor Wayne Goins, a noted jazz guitarist, has imitated Jimi Hendrix’s legendary Woodstock performance. Rock on!

COOKING UP A CHAMPION
Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps’ record-breaking medal haul has a K-State connection. Stewart Lane, a senior in hotel and restaurant management, worked this summer as a chef for the U.S. athletes competing in the Games. Like a true champ, Lane improvised a recipe when the kitchen ran out of Phelps’ signature drink: chocolate milk.
