ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK ABOUT MORE THAN SUNBATHING AND SKIING

Although many K-State students spent their spring break skiing in Colorado or baking in the South Padre Island sun, some chose a different destination. Twelve students pitched in on construction projects in Greensburg, Kansas, where a tornado tore a swath through the town, and 30 more made a difference recycling, rebuilding, and working with pets in New Orleans, site of the Hurricane Katrina devastation. Their range of experiences, from mastering a nail gun to caring for pets, left some lasting memories.

These close-knit ties and support can even extend to graduation and the workplace. But how much parental involvement is too much of a good thing?
