ANNOUNCEMENTS:
GENERAL BUSINESS: Speaker pro tem Oliver began the meeting with a discussion on the frequency of PR meetings. The committee decided it would be appropriate to begin holding meetings every other week to improve efficiency and attendance of the members. The committee will still plan to meet this coming Sunday. If any items come up during a week in which no meeting is scheduled to occur, the members could still be called to come in at the usual meeting time. After this, each of the members read what they had for their blog articles. Senator Huschka shared information on Athletic Student tickets, Intern Hill presented what he had on the University Calendar Committee, Morgan Adams spoke on the rec expansion article, Intern Coordinator Rauth shared information on the parking garage, and Senator Savoy briefly touched on campus safety. This week’s website projects include creating the Intern Program page and adding pictures to the legislative branch.

- Welcome Back!
- ICDD facilitated discussion on climate change – Tuesday January 29 7-9pm Union room TBA
- Vice Chair Schultz announced DPC sponsored MLK Day speaker Ice-T, Forum Hall, doors open at 7:00 and beginning at 7:30pm. Candlelight vigil will follow.
- PR Director Hauser announced that more tickets for UPC sponsored Will Ferrell show are still available. Tickets will also be given out through the radio station
- Old Business
- SGA Hears You Surveys will be distributed this week at Senate
- New Business
- Tim Weninger updated the committee on Parking Council. Many funding structures were discussed at the last meeting. Free spots will still be available after 5:00. Options were for RFID passes (similar to KTag) to be sold at very high costs, but could be shared between vehicles. The committee said nobody would purchase these. Other options were for permits to be purchased and then they would still take a ticket and pay the cost for how long they parked. The committee said that if students buy permits they should not have to pay additional money for parking. Metered spots will also still be available.
- K-State daily planner opportunity. University Directories offers partnerships with university organizations to provide a planner free of charge to all students. SGA would have information about their organization on the first few pages. Costs are held down by selling advertisements to local businesses. SGA members would have the opportunity to have marketing internships with the company. The University Enhancements subcommittee decided this opportunity will not be pursued.
- SGA Elections Opportunities Fair – would like to host a guest lecturer (possibly former governor John Carlin) to speak, followed by a browsing session where students can visit with current SGA cabinet members, senators, and at-large members to discuss job descriptions and encourage more students to run for elections. This will be held mid-late February, depending on elections timeline.
- SGA Alumni Event – discussed the possibility of creating an event for SGA alumni to showcase the history of SGA and connect former and current SGA members with one another.
- The PR Subcommittee will also be hosting a “get out the vote” campaign, encouraging students to vote no matter who they choose to vote for. Possibilities include throwing a capstone party for students who voted and then reaching out to freshman and campus groups to educate them on the importance of voting and the logistics of doing so. We will also assist Vice Chair Schultz and Vice President Peele in planning the Big 12 conference.
- The UE Subcommittee will have Tim follow-up on parking issues with Parking Council. Another idea is to partner with ICDD and host a student caucus for the national presidential elections and possibly the student body elections.
- The meeting was adjourned at 9:52pm

New Business
A survey was created for Senate members to evaluate SGA Hears You. The questionnaire was based on last year’s survey, with additional questions regarding the most effective method of communication and whether we provided enough prizes and incentives for students.
The suggestion was made that students might hold a Student Caucus for the upcoming election.
Announcement- Weninger reported that faculty senate had concerns regarding the “vote-yes” expansion logo that was posted on the K-state webmail site and if advertising in that manner should be allowed. A suggestion was made by Weiniger to draft legislation to prohibit advertising on listservs and the website as he believed the university should not take a position on an issue that is to be decided by the student body.
The meeting was adjourned and was motioned by Weninger and second by Edwards.
