Verification / Requirements

All international students are required to maintain health insurance and evacuation/repatriation coverage while being a student at Kansas StateUniversity. Below you will find more information about which insurance is available and how to purchase health insurance.  All international students must complete, sign and submit the Student Health Insurance Form to the ISSS in order to comply with the mandate of required health insurance.

 I. Students who wish to purchase the University Endorsed Student Health Insurance Plan

A. International students may purchase the Kansas State University System approved United Health Care Student Resources Insurance Plan. This plan has been reviewed by the University and other system campuses and meets the requirements for both health insurance and evacuation/repatriation coverage. You can purchase this plan at https://www.uhcsr.com/selfServicesupport/students/collegestudents.aspx

                     

B. On-CampusEmployment (GTAs/GRAs)

Students who are employed on-campus, and whose employment makes them eligible for University health insurance coverage, will need to enroll in the health insurance plan at Human Resources in Edwards Hall. 

            

II. Sponsored Students

Sponsored students in the following categores need to provide proof of health insurance coverage to the ISSS. 

1. Sponsored students whose sponsor provides health insurance coverage in order to participate in their program.

2. Sponsored students who purchase health insurance on behalf of the sponsor.

3. Sponsored Students whose sponsor does not provide insurance coverage

4. Sponsored students no longer receiving funding from their respective sponsors.
 

III. Students purchasing an alternative/qualifying insurance plan
   

**If a student does not qualify for insurance as an employee of Kansas State University, and has decided not to purchase the University endorsed plan, the student may purchase health insurance coverage "other" than the Kansas State University System approved Student Insurance Plan if it has "equivalent coverage". This alternate policy MUST meet ALL the requirements outlined below to be considered equivalent:

  • For each semester you are registered, you are required to have health insurance coverage.
  • Have a Minimum $100,000 or greater medical benefit for each sickness
  • Have a minimum $100,000 or greater medical benefits for each accident
  • Includes inpatient and outpatient coverage for both sickness and accident
  • Have at least $10,000 for repatriation (removal of remains after death)
  • Have at least $15,000 for medical evacuation to your home country
  • A deductible not to exceed $500 per individual, per policy year
  • The health insurance company offering the policy must meet the above qualifications.
